In 2008, ECMVC took the bold step of hiring the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham, pulling together a massed male voice choir of some 300 voices, engaging the world-famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band and persuading Dominic Heale, of BBC East Midlands Today, to compere the whole event. The result was a whopping success, raising over £15,000 for charity. All the participating choirs and their respective musical directors and accompanists worked unbelievably hard and grateful thanks are due to Bestwood MVC, Coalville MVC, Dalesmen MVC, Gresley MVC, Leicester City MVC, Melbourne MVC, Moira MVC and Nottingham MVC.
