The Eastwood Collieries’ Male Voice Choir was formed in 1919 but whilst we are fiercely proud of our history we have a very modern outlook to our music choices and presentation.
The choir’s repertoire is extremely varied and includes a number of traditional male voice choir standards and old favourites but the choir works very hard to keep its repertoire fresh and appealing to varied audiences by including newly written pieces as well as interesting arrangements of modern songs.
Now one of only a handful of original colliery male voice choirs surviving in the country and having a broad range of members the choir is able to boast a membership covering many age groups, young to old. With healthy membership numbers and an appealing repertoire we as a choir are well placed to continue providing musical entertainment to audiences nationwide.
The choir performs numerous concerts throughout the year for many groups, charities and organisations and is no stranger to high profile events; the choir has organised and performed in four concerts at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham, having established the popular Sounds Sensational format in 2008, which brought together a massed male voice choir and star guests.
As well as making music at a wide variety of venues, the choir helps local and national organisations raise much needed funds. We are immensely proud of this and will continue to perform in aid of as many charities as possible throughout the year. We also love to ‘pop-up’ at public venues – pubs, garden centres and cafes – to perform in a much more informal way.
If you would like further information about the choir, would like to make a concert booking, buy a CD or just have a general enquiry then we would be pleased to hear from you. Get in touch by using the contact form for a quick response.
