ECMVC in the community

Eastwood Collieries’ Male Voice Choir has been active throughout Eastwood and surrounding area for over a hundred years. The choir was born out of the need to provide a means of enjoying music and associated social gatherings for those working in the coal industry. Whilst ECMVC are very proud of our heritage, we have not stood still and rested on our laurels; we have adapted our approach to singing to reflect the changing tastes in music over the years and we continue to provide great entertainment through our performances throughout the year.

But we have a burning ambition to create opportunities for community groups and organisations to experience the fun, enjoyment and mood-lifting effects of meeting together and having a sing, even with little or no experience; everyone can sing!

The health and wellbeing benefits of singing and music are widely known. In 2026, we are aiming to put singing at the heart of our community through a number of special events during the year and we would like you to join us!

The project was ‘soft-launched’ at Greasley Miners’ Welfare on Monday 2nd February and if you’d like to know more, then please get in touch using our contact form. We’d love to share our ideas with you as we start to prepare to ‘Sing Up for Eastwood and District!’
