Summer’s End – great success!

Eastwood Collieries’ Male Voice Choir performed to a packed St Mary’s Church on Saturday 15 September, along with their guests, the Rolls-Royce Ladies Choir. There were very few seats available on the night of the ‘Summer’s End’ concert and the audience were treated to great musical items from shows such as South Pacific, Miss Saigon, Oh! What a Lovely War and The Music Man, modern classics like Only You, Sloop John B and You Raise Me Up, together with If We Only Have Love and American Trilogy, two of the choir’s most powerful and emotive songs.

Rolls-Royce Ladies were the perfect guests, performing a very wide variety of items, including classics from Adele, Carole King, Bon Jovi and Queen.

The audience included two past presidents of ECMVC, the current president, David Bingham, the Mayors of Eastwood and Broxtowe and a party who were celebrating the Diamond Wedding Anniversary of Don and Marge Rowley, who have been great supporters of the choir for many years.

Several members of the audience took the trouble to voice their compliments for a wonderful evening’s concert. “Fabulous”, “Remarkable entertainment”, “So looking forward to what you do next”, were just three passed to the organisers.

You can catch the choir again on Saturday 20 October at Brinsley Parish Hall, where they will perform in concert as the culmination of a day’s activities commemorating the end of World War One. Tickets are just £5, including a supper, and can be purchased/reserved by calling the Parish Council on 01773 531251 or by emailing theclerk@brinsleypc.org.
