Hard on the heels of the wonderful concert with Rock ‘n’ Soul Singers at the Parish Church of St Mary in Eastwood, are two concerts featuring ECMVC in October.
First up, we have the Last Night of the Proms Charity Concert, on Saturday 21 October, at St Peter’s Church, Belper. An excellent chance to see, once again, Eastwood Collieries’ Male Voice Choir join with the full band of Derwent Brass in a charity concert organised by the Amber Valley Rotary Club. Proceeds are to be donated to the Polio Eradication Campaign.
The theme for the evening’s programme is ‘music and song from stage and screen’, so expect to hear items from South Pacific, Chess, Les Miserables and many more, before we launch into the classic finale songs.
This same, great combination of male voice choir and brass band was last seen in the same venue in February, last year and photos from this event can be seen on the choir’s website.
Tickets from the choir or band – or direct from the Rotary Club by calling 01773 834337 or email Concert211017@aol.com.
The following Friday, 27 October, at the Church of St Michael and All Angels, Underwood, ECMVC are joining Sonara Singers.
The event is in aid of the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Association and all profits will be donated to this worthy cause.
PSP is a progressive neurological condition caused by the premature loss of nerve cells in certain parts of the brain. Over time, this leads to difficulties with balance, movement, vision, speech and swallowing. Symptoms can resemble Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Stroke or Multiple System Atrophy, with the result that initial misdiagnosis is common. The PSP Association raises funds for much needed research into the condition.
Tickets are available from the choirs, or can be reserved by calling 07505 360407.
