After many years of sterling support given to the choir, Don and Marge Rowley decided to retire as President and Vice President respectively. These photos were taken at the Royal British Legion presentation evening on 16 December, when an extra surprise presentation was made to both of them, commemorating their long association with the choir.
The choir had already performed a number of items for the invited audience of friends and relatives and Don and Marge had presented the proceeds of Sounds Sensational 2013 to the Royal British Legion on behalf of the choir, when the gift of a specially commissioned watercolour was made to them. The gift was painted by our very own secretary, Mike Tomlinson, who performed the honour of presenting it to them.
Don and Marge had not been enjoying the best of health over many weeks and had decided to step down from many of their community-based commitments. Ending their formal association with the choir was probably the most difficult decision of them all – but we expect them to be in the audience for many years to come.
The choir and all its supporters thanked them both for their unstinting support given to the choir.
