On a very warm, late July evening, the choir paid a visit to Canal Vue care home in Ilkeston, where they entertained the residents for an hour or so, with a selection of items from the current repertoire.
The choir dedicated the evening to Ken Woods, a former long-standing member and vice-president of the choir, who sadly passed away at the care home just a couple of weeks before our visit.
The residents – and staff – thoroughly enjoyed the evening and we received some lovely comments immediately afterwards both in person and on our Facebook page, including:
“It was a privilege to watch the audience singing and dancing along this evening and I’m sure your performance made their week, especially Joyce, the birthday girl. A lovely concert, well done everybody.”
“We enjoyed every minute. What a great performance. Thank you all so much x”
And one of our choir members said, “Lovely evening, the love and care given to the residents was tangible! Reserve me a room for thirty years from now!”
A lovely audience, a wonderful, hard-working staff and a fantastic experience for the choir.
