Centenary Celebrations gaining momentum!

These are VERY exciting times for the choir!

On Friday 7 June, in the evening and Saturday 8 June all day, the choir recorded 15 items for a new CD and download/streaming, with the help of producer Steve Swinden of Chorum Records. The experience was really exciting but totally exhausting. At the same time, we were filmed for a short video to be released in time for our Centenary Concert in Nottingham.

The recording will be released in time to be available at the concert in September and, as a first for ECMVC, the tracks will be available online via many of the well-used services. The tracks are being mixed and edited right now and the physical package design is well underway. Look out for details of how to get hold of your copy of this very special release, which features a selection of items from our current concert repertoire.

Preparations are also steaming ahead for our big event on 28 September. Every Man Was Singing is our centenary concert and we will be joined by our friends from Mansfield & District MVC and Pye Hill & District MVC, together with Newstead Brass. Compere for the evening is Dominic Heale, BBC East Midlands Today. You can purchase tickets online by visiting our TryBooking events page.

In July, the choir have two concerts – first, we’re performing at the Ripley Music Festival (admission £5) and this is followed two days later with a joint concert with the New Greasley Singers, who will be celebrating their 40th anniversary. Sadly, New Greasley Singers have decided to end their activities this year, so this concert will be the last opportunity to see and hear two great Eastwood choirs singing together.
